TWD: Dorie's Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

I followed the recipe exactly as written! I'm not sure why I didn't take anything out, or substitute something, but I decided to give Dorie's cookies a chance. Everyone is always looking for the ultimate chocolate chip cookie, and I'm no exception. I like thick and gooey-chewy cookies. Well, I actually prefer the raw dough, but I always bake some of it! These cookies were really tasty, and chewy, but they were a bit thin, so I'm still looking. Whichever recipe I decide on, I'll be chopping up bars of bittersweet chocolate from now on. So long, chocolate chips. It was nice while it lasted.
This week's recipe was selected by Kait of Kait's Plate, so head over to her blog for the recipe. To see what the rest of the Tuesdays with Dorie bakers thought of them, check out the blogroll
No TWD for me next week. I'm away and only had time to bake 2 of February's recipes before leaving. Bummer that I missed out on those brownies last week, and next week's cookies, but c'est la vie. See you on the 27th with the Daring Bakers' reveal.

Yup! You are right, and we like the same kind of cookies... think and chewy. These I tought were nice when coming out of the oven (like most anyways) but a couple of hours in the jar made them pretty much anonymous.

Nice try though... yours look absolutely perfect!

I discovered, after baking this, I like thin chocolate chip cookies. Go figure. Yours look great.

I'm with you on eating the dough. In fact, I just ate a dough ball which I grabbed out of the bag in the freezer while rummaging around for dinner. Dangerous! I have a chocolate chip cookie recipe on my blog that sounds like what you might be looking for.

Well, ok, I'll try these too. Nice glass of milk, by the way.

I love cookie dough too! The chopped chocolate was so good in these. Even though chips are easier, I'll be chopping again in the future.

I'm with you on the thick and gooey cookies - let me know when you find that recipe!

Your cookies look perfect but I'm 100% with you on the thickness issue. If you want a great c.c.cookie recipe you should try the Jacques Torres cookies. They do live up to all the hype. :>

Oh, is cookie dough not the best? I think your marbled ccc's look absolutely delicious. Trying Dorie's alteration of deleting 4 T. of butter and adding 1/2 c. of peanut butter must have made the difference for fluffy cookies.

You should have a food porn warning on this post! Those cookies are very tempting!

Aren't we lucky to have these baking quests in our lives? Searching for the best chocolate chip cookie.... what could be better?

Wow those look great...I mean really great. Looks alone 10 out of 10. The milk is a nice touch and sets them off so nicely. These were a big hit here, I have made them three times now...teen boys and all, you know.

Your cookies look perfect. Funny, just today my boss at work said he preferred a chunkier, thicker chocolate chip cookie. The rest of the group loved them.

looks like we are in the same cookie boat. thick and chewy :) the search continues.

and yes, chopped bars of chocolate (though it can be laborious) are MUCH muuuuuch better than their chippy counterparts. and usually bar chocolates (depending on the brand) are more chocolate and less filler which makes them melty AND tasty. yum.

They may be a tad thin but they are picture perfect! Nice visiting with you and scrolling through some of your posts! :)

I think I feel the exact same way about chocolate chip cookies as you do, too funny!

I'm going to experiment with Alton Brown's "chewy". I think it's pretty close to what I'm looking for.

Your pics are so pretty!

Beautiful cookies with the little shards of chocolate.

I like mine chewy and thicker, also.
